Located approximately 25 kilometers from Giresun city center, Gelin Kayası is known not only for its natural beauty but also for the legends surrounding it. The name Gelin Kayası is based on a legend passed down through generations. According to the legend, a young girl, forced to marry someone she didn't love, prayed to God to turn her into stone on her wedding day as she set out with the bridal procession. The legend says her wish was granted, and she turned to stone where she stood. This story, combined with the rock's shape resembling a human silhouette, gave the formation its name, Gelin Kayası (Bride's Rock). In Giresun, various legends are told about this rock formation, further strengthening its place in the local folklore. Thanks to its natural structure, Gelin Kayası (Bride's Rock) can be perceived in different ways from various angles, and it is particularly striking with its silhouette resembling a human face when viewed from one direction.
