Aziziye Mosque

Located in the heart of the bazaar in Konya's historical Karatay district, the Aziziye Mosque is one of the most unique and eye-catching examples of late Ottoman architecture. Rebuilt in 1874 with the contributions of Pertevniyal Sultan, the mother of Sultan Abdulaziz, after the original 17th-century mosque burned down, this structure magnificently blends the classical Ottoman style with European Baroque and Rococo styles. Its double minarets with balconies rising on columns on both sides give this mosque a completely different and unique silhouette from other mosques in Anatolia. One of the most striking architectural features of the Aziziye Mosque is its massive windows, which are even larger than its doors. Thanks to these large windows, the spacious interior is filled with daylight, offering visitors a fresh and bright spiritual atmosphere. Integrated with the dynamism of the surrounding historical bedesten and bazaars, this elegant structure is a must-see masterpiece for those who want to feel Konya's rich historical texture and capture an aesthetic photograph.
