Historical Midyat Houses

Midyat, the most famous and fascinating district of Mardin, resembles a fairytale land with its unique silver filigree art and magnificent mansions built from yellow limestone called "katori." This historical district, where different religions, languages, and cultures have lived together in peace for centuries, hosts one of the most striking architectural textures of Southeastern Anatolia with its intricately carved stone houses, arched passages, and Syriac churches. The most magnificent symbol of this historical texture is the Midyat State Guest House (Midyat Devlet Konukevi), which has hosted countless TV series and movies and fascinates with its magnificent stone carving. When you go up to the terrace on the top floor of this three-story historical mansion, you can take unforgettable photos against the magnificent skyline formed by Midyat's unique stone houses, bell towers, and minarets, and feel the authentic spirit of the city deep within you
