Located in the southwest of Mardin overlooking the Mesopotamia Plain, the Kasımiye Madrasah is a magnificent educational complex whose construction began during the Artuqid period and was completed in the late 15th century under the Aq Qoyunlu Sultan Kasım. As one of the most elegant examples of yellow cut stone masonry, the structure carries the architectural and scholarly splendor of its era to the present day with its two-story plan, wide courtyard, and monumental portal. The pool in the center of the courtyard, featuring a continuous flow of water, symbolizes the stages and cycle of human life according to Sufi philosophy. Today, as one of Mardin's most visited symbols with both its historical texture and unique architectural details, Kasımiye Madrasah offers visitors an unforgettable atmosphere accompanied by the fascinating view of Mesopotamia.
