Hadrian’s Gate is the most magnificent and best-preserved Roman monument in Antalya. It was built in 130 AD to honor the visit of Emperor Hadrian to the city (then known as Attaleia). Because of its three elegant arches, locals also call it “Üçkapılar” (the Three Gates). The gate features Corinthian columns, refined reliefs, and white marble that has stood for nearly 1,900 years. As you walk through it, you can still see the grooves left by ancient Roman chariot wheels on the stone pavement. Today it serves as the main pedestrian entrance to Kaleiçi, the historic old town, and is the first stop for most visitors. The best moments for photos are early in the morning or at sunset, when the light falls beautifully across the arches. It is an unmissable starting point for anyone wanting to step into the historic heart of Antalya.
