Ortahisar Atatürk Monument

I would now like to introduce the Atatürk Monument, located in Atapark within the Ortahisar district of Trabzon. The monument consists of a pedestal made of cut stone and a statue of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk depicted in a standing position. The reliefs on the north and south faces of the pedestal reflect symbolic representations of the War of Independence and the Republican era.

Atapark, where the monument stands, acquired its current identity in 1939 when the area formerly occupied by structures belonging to the Gülbahar Hatun Complex was transformed into a park. In this respect, the Atatürk Monument is a significant monumental work representing the Republican era within Trabzon’s historical fabric.
