Abdullah Pasha Fountain

I would now like to introduce the Abdullah Pasha Fountain, located on the eastern face of the Zağnos Bastion in the Ortahisar district of Trabzon. Commissioned in 1844 by Hazinedarzade Abdullah Pasha, the Governor of Trabzon, the fountain was originally situated in front of the water distribution chamber at Taksim Square. It was later removed from that site due to street reorganization and relocated to its current position.

Featuring a rectangular façade, the fountain stands as a notable example of the Empire style in Trabzon. Floral ornaments, rosettes, a "tree of life" motif, and an impressive inscription panel on its marble front lend the structure an aesthetic appeal. The Abdullah Pasha Fountain is a significant historical monument that preserves both the water culture of the Ottoman era and the architectural sensibilities of 19th-century Trabzon.
