Nihatbey Monument

Now we see the Nihat Bey Monument located in the city center of Giresun. Built in 1914, this monument was erected in honor of Major Nihat Bey, who was the head of the military recruitment office at the time, and the naming of the street after him. Constructed from cut basalt stone, the monument is notable for its square base, inscription, pyramidal body, and round finial at the top. The marble inscription on top features writings and crescent moon and star motifs reflecting the style of the period. Registered and protected since 1986, the Nihat Bey Monument stands today as one of the important cultural assets reflecting the historical fabric of Giresun.
