Alaca Camili Kilim is a traditional handicraft from the Alaca district of Çorum, produced by weaving wool yarns that are colored using traditional methods on upright looms or traditional weaving frames. Along with primary colors such as red, yellow, and black, shades of blue, green, and brown are also used, with natural colors obtained especially from plant-based dyes. Square or rectangular sections known as “top,” together with narrow decorative bands called “arayol,” create the kilim’s distinctive visual character. Used both as a floor covering and a wall hanging, Alaca Camili Kilim is an important example of the weaving tradition passed down through generations in the region. With its traditional motifs, natural colors, and handcrafted production, it reflects Alaca’s cultural heritage and is one of the distinctive local crafts worth discovering in Çorum.
