Çubuk Sour Cherry is a local cherry variety grown in the Çubuk district of Ankara, known for its glossy dark red skin, juicy flesh, and balanced sweet-and-sour flavor. Its rounded, heart-like shape, relatively thick skin, and high juice yield give the fruit its distinctive appearance and character. Çubuk’s mountainous landscape, cold winters, and noticeable temperature differences between day and night during harvest contribute to the fruit’s late ripening and ability to remain firm for longer. With a history dating back to the Ottoman period, Çubuk Sour Cherry is also celebrated through a traditional local festival and has become an important symbol of the district’s agricultural heritage.
