Polatlı Onion is a dry onion grown in the Polatlı district of Ankara, distinguished by its skin color ranging from pale yellow to copper-brown, white flesh, and pronounced pungent aroma. Generally flat and round in shape, it can be stored for up to eight months under suitable conditions. Polatlı’s long sunshine duration, warm climate, and low humidity contribute to the onion’s durability and characteristic aroma. As the district is one of Türkiye’s major onion-producing areas, Polatlı Onion has become closely associated with the region’s agricultural identity.
