Nallıhan Örtmesi is a traditional handwoven textile produced in the Nallıhan district of Ankara using silk, silk-cotton blends, or cotton threads. Designed to cover the head and upper body, it is distinguished by its colorful stripes, brocade motifs, and a locally specific twisted thread known as “kız kıvrağı.” Nallıhan’s location on the historic Silk Road, together with its long tradition of sericulture and weaving, played an important role in the development of these textiles. With traditional motifs such as Göbekli, Albaşlı, Zülüf Tarağı, and Koç Boynuzu, Nallıhan Örtmesi remains an important representation of the district’s cultural and handicraft heritage.
