Gölbaşı Sevgi Çiçeği (Centaurea tchihatcheffii) is an endemic plant closely associated with the Gölbaşı district of Ankara, known for its striking flowers in shades of red, pink, and purple. It is also locally known as the “iridescent flower” because of the changing tones reflected by its blossoms. With a very limited natural habitat, the Sevgi Çiçeği is one of the distinctive symbols of Gölbaşı’s natural heritage. Protecting this rare species for future generations is especially important, while its colorful blossoms add a unique beauty to the region from late spring to early summer.
