Samandağ Pepper is a local pepper grown in the Samandağ district of Hatay, distinguished by its long, pointed shape and pronounced heat. It is harvested green at an earlier stage of ripeness and red when fully mature, while its high capsaicin content gives it a characteristic spicy flavor. Closely linked to Samandağ’s climate, sunshine, and sandy-loamy soils, the pepper is enjoyed fresh and also used in various local dishes and products. It is one of the district’s most distinctive agricultural specialties.
