Hatay Helva Hattuş is a traditional sweet made by pounding roasted terebinth seeds together with dried figs until they form a thick paste. Walnuts may also be added, giving the dessert a richer aroma and texture. Usually prepared during the winter after the terebinth harvest, Helva Hattuş is enjoyed as a sweet snack and is traditionally served with terebinth coffee. It is one of the distinctive local desserts reflecting Hatay’s culinary heritage.
